This term we're learning
about Abraham, the father of all who believe
and what it looks like to have faith

As the story of Genesis progresses, God calls one man to leave everything and follow him, and he promises him a family. This family is not a carrot held in front of Abraham, as a reward for obedience, rather it is a promise for Abraham to step into in faith. John Stott says,

"What God said to Abraham was not 'Obey this law and I will bless you', but 'I will bless you; believe my promise'."

Through this promised family all the families of the earth will be blessed, So Abrahams response of faith in God is a key moment in the story of salvation and it is also a key lesson for us about what it means to have saving faith in the God who calls us all to leave everything and follow him.

The Lord had said to Abram,
“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household
to the land I will show you.

Genesis has so much to say to us!

And so to help us think about it thorugh the week (and also to save the teaching on Sunday being really long) we'll be using our daily devotions to think further about some of the stuff we talked about on Sunday and sone of the stuff we didn't get to talk about.

Each week, Monday to Friday, there'll be a devotion on Facebook to read or watch - there's a text, a thought and a "therefore..." There will also be a key verse to remember and a relevant worship song to rejoice in.

We'd love you to read Genesis with us and discover how God worked through Abraham's faith and family, so that you might have faith and become part of God's family too.
